Presents the theory underlying the C.H.I.L.D. Protocol® comprehensive platform. Developmental assessment is defined as a systematic, integrative evaluation of a child’s functioning across physical, sensoriperceptive, psychomotor, communication, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual domains. Within the C.H.I.L.D. Protocol®, assessment is understood as a reflective and relational process that supports the child’s journey of becoming, recognizing each child’s unique developmental trajectory. Expected Learning Outcomes By the end of the module, participants will be able to:- Identify the risks of a “wait and see” approach and the benefits of early developmental assessment.
- Explain the role of early assessment in identifying developmental strengths and challenges and supporting timely intervention.
- Describe how proactive, methodic observation and informed action are tailored to each child’s developmental characteristics
- Define the core principles and interdisciplinary approach to the C.H.I.L.D. Protocol®, including its strengths-based, whole-child viewpoint.
- Apply principles of individualized and repeated assessment to monitor developmental progress.
