Assessment Training Program: Module 2

Making Sense of a Child’s Growth and Progress
Module 2 provides a comprehensive examination of the structure, logic, and application of the developmental assessment scales. This module equips participants with the conceptual and practical tools necessary to observe, document, and support holistic child development within a structured, evidence-based display.
The module systematically presents the five core components of the assessment process: child profile, health history, developmental history, current developmental status, and scale ratings. Together, these components ensure that each child’s developmental progress is interpreted within the context of their biological, environmental, and experiential background.
Participants explore six interrelated domains of development—neurophysiological, sensoriperceptive, psychomotor, communication, cognition, and socioemotional—with each domain anchored to age-appropriate milestones and early warning indicators (red flags). Emphasis is placed on the integration of compassionate, child-centered observation with scientific rigor and methodological consistency.
Module 2 also introduces the standardized statistical approach used in the C.H.I.L.D. Protocol®, including rating tables and percentage-based calculations that support objective interpretation of results. Participants learn to analyze developmental trajectories over time rather than isolated behaviors, enabling early identification of strengths, emerging concerns, and support needs. Through its structured and evidence- based design, Module 2 prepares participants to translate assessment findings into informed decisions, early interventions, and individualized recommendations that promote lifelong healthy development.
Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of Module 2, participants will be able to:
- Describe the structure and purpose of the five core components of the C.H.I.L.D. Protocol® developmental assessment.
- Explain the characteristics and developmental significance of the six domains of child development as defined by the C.H.I.L.D. Protocol®.
- Apply standardized rating tables and percentage calculations to interpret developmental assessment results accurately.
- Analyze developmental data to identify patterns, trajectories, strengths, and early warning signs across domains over time.
- Formulate informed, developmentally appropriate recommendations based on assessment findings to support individualized child development.
